Eaton Corporation Vice President, Innovation, Power Electronics in Southfield, Michigan

Eaton is seeking a dynamic VP, Innovation, Power Electronics.

What you’ll do:

As a member of the Engineering leadership team, you are tasked with leading the Power Electronics innovation strategy within Eaton. You will hold enterprise-wide accountability and collaborate across the Industrial and Electrical Sectors to advance critical power electronics priorities aligned with our strategic imperatives. Your role requires influencing a diverse array of stakeholders within our matrix organization, comprising engineers and partner organizations. You will manage a budget and influence investment decisions amounting to up to $50 million.

You will champion power electronics expertise with profound domain knowledge while maintaining commercial acumen to address customer needs. Close collaboration with leadership in technology, engineering, and business development is essential to propel Power Electronics technology forward across the company. You are expected to cultivate successful relationships by balancing enterprise and customer objectives and demonstrating proficiency in Energy Systems. By integrating enterprise value with Energy Systems opportunities and utilizing your understanding of industry trends and competitive landscapes, you will contribute to our commercial success. Your insights will enable Eaton to outperform competitors and deepen customer relationships.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant leadership experience, including roles at executive or board levels, with a proven track record of driving the success of technical businesses.

  • In-depth knowledge of power electronics, energy systems, and technological advancements in the field. The ability to stay current with industry trends and assess their business impact.

  • Demonstrated ability to create and execute a vision and global strategy for technology roadmaps that align with overall business strategies.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence a broad range of stakeholders within a matrix organization.

  • Experience in strategic planning and achieving measurable business outcomes.

  • Success in accelerating innovation and bringing products to market faster than competitors, with superior technology features and cost efficiency.

  • International Experience: Experience in international operations and global markets, with the ability to collaborate effectively with partners across different geographies.

  • High ethical standards, accountability, and efficiency, with a focus on continuous learning and maintaining transparency.

  • Ability to balance enterprise and customer needs, demonstrating commercial awareness to meet customer requirements while driving enterprise value.

  • Proven ability to build successful relationships by connecting enterprise value to opportunities in energy systems and leveraging industry and competitive knowledge.

  • Ability to identify and foster strategic partnerships in academia, industry, and government, and to represent the company in relevant codes and standards bodies.

  • Educational Background: An advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field is essential. A Ph.D. would be highly advantageous.

Skills:

  • This executive must stay current with technological advancements, identify trends, and assess their business relevance. They will direct strategic efforts to standardize platform technologies and gain cross-business support within Eaton, identifying opportunities for improvement or innovation.

  • Create a vision and global strategy for the Power Electronics technology roadmap that aligns with the overall business strategy.

  • Collaborate with executive leadership and other departments to communicate technology strategies and progress, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and engaged.

  • Identify and foster strategic partnerships in academia, industry, and government to support long-term objectives.

  • Participate in Codes & Standards to represent Eaton and influence technology adoption. Drive execution in key Power Electronics programs and global product strategy.

  • Identify and sponsor new investment opportunities for the Enterprise to mature and execute projects regularly.

  • Increased speed to market for new technologies: product development cycles that are world class.

  • Demonstrated ability to bring products to market quicker than competition, at equal or better cost, with better technology features.

  • Accelerated innovation in Power Electronics

  • Influencing business outcomes through updated product and technology roadmaps

The expected annual salary range for this role is $195000.03 - $286000.04 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
