Job Title:
Assistant General Manager, Cell & Process Engineering
Job Summary:
The Assistant General Manager, Cell and Process Engineering, manages various production-focused battery development engineering teams and activities in the Engineering Department; this includes, but it is not limited to production engineering planning, directing, and monitoring the manufacturing group to meet engineering safety and quality standards, established specifications, schedules, and volume/cost/loss targets. Additionally, the Assistant General Manager will determine and oversee budgeting objectives to ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are achieved. Furthermore, the Assistant General Manager will supervise the development of new processes and methods to increase production rates, improve quality, and to reduce defects while reducing costs. Essential Duties:
Manages several organizational segments or teams and be the key stake holder for large complex company programs.
Directly supervises 50-100 employees in the Engineering Department
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Accountable for people leader responsibilities including interviewing/hiring, developing new employees by planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Leading and supporting engineers in design, development, testing, and maintenance of robust process and equipment simulation models that allow for enhanced fundamental understanding of manufacturing and product challenges, as well as expedited solution development.
Must be able to effectively drive Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) across the operation, ensuring all projects are delivered with the highest quality standards, while maintaining time and budget guidelines
Design, plan layout, and oversee others engaged in constructing, controlling, and improving equipment to carry out battery manufacturing processes on commercial scale.
Lead the team to develop measurement and control systems for electrode manufacturing processes based on data collected in laboratory experiments and pilot plant operations and perform tests and measurements throughout stages of trials and production to determine degree of control over process variables.
Determine the most effective arrangement of unit operations by exercising judgement to compromise between process requirements, economic evaluation, operator effectiveness, and physical and health hazards.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications
Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Education:
Basic/Required: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related discipline.
Preferred: M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related discipline
Essential Qualifications:
Minimum of 10+ years of engineering experience in areas such as manufacturing, product development, design, or other area

7+ years of leadership experience

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with Industrial data analysis or Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment (1M+ units per day) such as batteries or electronic devices.
Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies and tools
Strong data analysis skills with tools such as JMP, Minitab, Python, or MATLAB are highly desired.
Experience with battery production or R&D
