MINIMUM/PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment with extrusion experience preferred.
  • Ability to adhere to Berry's Safety, Health, and Environmental Vision, Policy, and Standards.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Basic math skills.
  • Ability to read and write to complete required forms and verify quality products are produced.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work in warm, humid, and cool climates for 8 or more hours per day or night.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes safety glasses, safety goggles, hearing protection, steel toe shoes/boots, face shield, gloves, and face mask.
  • Ability to handle and resolve problems.
  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, weekends, days or nights, for 8 or more hours.
  • Ability to stand, sit, kneel, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and crawl for extended periods multiple times per day. No fear of heights.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must have good vision, eye-hand coordination, and hearing.
  • Must have manual dexterity involving total wrist action, twisting, pulling, and raising arms at or above shoulder height.
  • Must be punctual; at line on time.
  • Can read and follow written and verbal instructions and specifications in English.
  • Ability to read a ruler to 1/8/tape measure and gauge caliper device.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

Perform changeovers and completes changeover setup form

Arrange assistance for changeover

Responsible for the cleaning of blenders and other equipment for material changes

Pre-blend and oversee the blending or mixing of resins in off-line as well as online

Complete paperwork for production sheet, labor log, scrap sheet and daily functional check sheet.

Make sure scrap gets weighed and recorded on shift paperwork or entered into MRP system

Set all secondary equipment (printer, punches, venting, portable winders, etc.) and test functionality to assure proper set-up and operation

Watch for and reacts to stack light alerts

Support and comply with safety, food safety and environmental guidelines

Make machine adjustments as needed to maintain required product quality and/or as identified by Packer/Inspector

Implements Berry incident protocol for medical assistance and applies first aid if trained

Identify equipment shortfalls and completes maintenance request forms

Close orders in system when complete

Identify and strives to meet expected rates or standards of production and note correct variance code in system

Collect, weigh and document all scrap; enter in system
