TRI STATE DISTRIBUTION INC EHS Coordinator in Sparta, Tennessee

The EHS Assistant is responsible for assisting the Safety Manager with planning, implementing and overseeing employee safety. Cultivate a strong safety culture and encourage continuing education. Their main duty is to ensure that the company is in compliance and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries.

Job Duties and responsibilities: Assist with initiating and implementing EHS policies and programs. Review existing policies and procedures. Conduct daily risk assessments. Enforce preventative measures. Identify process bottlenecks and offer timely solutions. Educate employees on safety policies and procedures, ensure compliance. Prepare accident, injury and near miss reports. Provide first aid treatment. Oversee workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employees' safety.

Skills and Qualifications: 6 Months in a safety leadership role or internship. Highschool diploma or equivalent. OSHA 30 certification, required. EHS Diploma, Certificate or AAS, preferred. First aid and CPR certified. Knowledge of relevant regulations such as OSHA, EPA and ANSI. Ability to read and interpret safety data sheets. Acute attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Strong time management and organizational skills. Great knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; Word, Excel and PowerPoint Ability to communicate effectively and connect with people from various backgrounds and work history. Own transportation, valid drivers license and current auto insurance.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: This position takes place in a manufacturing and production setting, in multiple locations. The work environment is cold in the winter and hot in the summer. This is not an office job, there should be 80% of time the floor and 20% of time at a desk. Ability to walk, stand, squat and climb regularly.
