Workforce Development Mentor-AmeriCorps --- Community Partnership with Skils'kin/Skookum Community Employment Services (CES)

This is a paid *Volunteer *position hosted at Skils'kin (Skookum Spokane office) through the AmeriCorps Program. Location: Spokane, Washington

Type: Full Time, Temporary Volunteer

Compensation: $3,561.90 Monthly Stipend (stipend is paid 100% by AmeriCorps)

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday Friday 7:30am 4:00pm (Flexible start and end times depending on scheduling needs. This is an in-person position.)  10-month position:  9/3/2024-7/15/2025 with potential for renewal.

 

As a Workforce Development Mentor AmeriCorps Volunteer, you'll help connect employees and CES clients with resources to reduce the barriers they experience, and will help with job mentoring to become financially independent. The AmeriCorps member will be supporting employees with intense job support and assisting with barriers such as food insecurity, job qualities, professionalism, and hygiene.

 

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Write curriculum and teach classes in Life Skills, Financial Skills, and Self-Care.

  • Mentor employees at our commercial services warehouse and various federal facilities in Spokane, and on Fairchild Air Force Base.

  • Support CES clients in obtaining and maintaining competitive community employment.

  • Find, build, and maintain at least four employer connections during service term.

Summary of desired skills and experience for the Skookum Workforce Development Mentor AmeriCorps Volunteer:

  • No previous experience required.

  • Teamwork, Computers/Technology, Teaching/Tutoring skills preferred.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.

  • Provide personal transportation.

  • Valid driver's license.
