American Fabricated Products Laser Machine Operator in Spring Lake, Michigan
Position Overview: The laser machine operator safely performs laser cutting for a variety of manufacturing products.
Responsibilities:
- Performing first piece and in-process inspections.
- Setting up the alignment of machines and focusing the lasers.
- Operating the controls, program movement, and cycle speed of machines.
- Unloading processed parts.
- Performing maintenance tasks of the workstation, as needed.
- Cross training, as needed.
- Set up and operate 3-axis Co2 CNC and Fiber lasers to cut parts to customer requirements to produce a finished product of the highest quality and consistency within tolerances and specifications established by the customer.
- Responsible for cutting parts, loading, unloading machine, moving material in area manually (physical movement) or using overhead crane or forklift.
- Ability to understand/apply knowledge of "G" and "M" codes and have applicable computer skills.
- Measure material and stack parts on pallets.
- Review routes on bill of material; check material thickness for accuracy.
- Check incoming material to sketches/drawings to assure quality parts.
- Select proper tooling to perform the job; responsible for storing tooling appropriately.
Qualifications:
- Be able to read mechanical blueprints.
- Be available to work overtime.
- Know how to complete basic sheet metal inspections.
- Be able to lift up to 75lbs, as needed.
- Have prior experience using calipers, tape measures, and hand tools.
- Have prior experience working with aluminum, steel, and stainless steel metals.
