HP's Corporate Affairs team is on a mission to change the way HP communicates and the way stakeholders engage with our brand. As a member of Corporate Affairs, you will be at the forefront of that mission, shaping and sharing our most important stories and inspiring audiences in new and unexpected ways. To further that work we are seeking a talented storyteller and strategic thinker with a passion for uncovering the meaningful impact stories of a global technology leader.

As the Sustainable Impact Communications Specialist, you will serve as the key communications expert on HP's sustainable impact strategy, which spans the pillars of climate action, digital equity and human rights. You will partner closely across the business to uncover & tell stories of how the company's initiatives are driving impact for people and planet.

The ideal candidate will have a keen news sense and demonstrated ability to execute impactful storytelling. Passion for environmental and social impact is a must, with an understanding of how these trends are shaping the media landscape and industry at large. This media expert should also have outstanding relationship-building, communication, and writing skills, with the capacity to work in a dynamic, forward-looking environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive a focused storytelling strategy that brings the impact of HP's Sustainable Impact work to life in compelling and human-centered ways.

  • Drive always-on proactive media relations spanning top tier business, sustainability and tech outlets, building and strengthening relationships with key media globally, and generating top-tier coverage for Sustainable Impact stories.

  • Proactively engage HP's Sustainable Impact stakeholders to identify stories and turn them into actionable pitches or other media engagement opportunities.

  • Serve as the lead expert on Sustainable Impact for the Corporate Communications team and broader Corporate Affairs organization, partnering on key news moments and co-designing opportunities that connect to our key priorities.

  • Work closely with the Corporate Communications team to bring stories to life across the full ecosystem of earned and owned mediums.

  • Exercise judgment to prioritize media opportunities. Prepare talking points, briefing documents and other supporting material for media engagements.

Qualifications

  • At least 5-10 years of communications experience in an agency and/or corporate environment

  • Demonstrated ability to foster strong working relationships within complex organizations

  • Technology industry and environmental/social impact experience a plus, but not a requirement.

  • Deep understanding of the media business and emerging trends

  • Track record of an always on media mindset with ability to connect dots and identify proactive story opportunities

  • Excellent storyteller who can drive a consistent narrative with strong verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.

  • Experience using customer data/insights to inform media strategy and planning

  • Creative and innovative thinker who's not afraid to try new things and suggest new ideas.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and calmly adapts to change when needed

​Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $91,000 -- $140,150 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
