American Outdoor Brands Corporation HVAC Technician in Springfield, Massachusetts

To provide a variety of HVAC/R maintenance services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintaining and repairing all existing HVAC systems and associated devices

  • Maintaining and repairing all duct work for HVAC systems

  • Assisting in the engineering, layout, design and installation of all HVAC and associated systems

  • Troubleshooting and repairing 120 volt and low voltage control systems for all HVAC systems

  • Assisting electricians, plumbers, machine techs and other maintenance functions as needed

  • Updating all blueprints and schematics as changes are made

  • Following all company policies and regulations

  • Completing all work orders in a timely manner and including all pertinent notes, part numbers, etc.

  • Working safely at all times and being certain that others working with you are working safely also

  • Working in conformance with all national, state and local codes

  • Working with outside contractors as needed

  • May have to work off shift or overtime as emergencies require

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School/GED, prior experience and ability working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • At least 5 years of experience working as an HVAC technician

  • Must be very knowledgeable and fluent with the Andover HVAC control system

  • Must be licensed to buy and work with refrigerant

  • Must be able to read blueprints and schematics and comprehend them fully

  • Duties require decision making regarding the solutions to problems not normally encountered - employee must determine appropriate actions to be taken to achieve required results

  • Requires broad trades training and knowledge of related methods and procedures acquired in a formal apprenticeship program or through equivalent extensive on the job training and experience

  • Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment

  • Willing to work any shift and overtime as required

  • Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work

  • Must be highly safety conscious

  • Exposed to high voltage electricity

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High School/GED, Degree requirements, prior experience

  • Requires broad trades training and knowledge of related methods and procedures acquired in a formal apprenticeship program or through equivalent extensive on the job training and experience.

  • Must possess required licenses.

  • 5+ years' experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Must be able to read, write and interpret English language.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Basic computer skills preferred

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Complete all company mandated training as required.

  • Participate in and follow all company initiatives.

  • Candidates will be trained in range cleaning and fork truck operation.

  • Must successfully complete all technical, administrative, and interpersonal training programs to satisfy Participative Work Team objectives and become a multi-skilled team member.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Continuous: standing, walking, lifting, bending, pushing/pulling, and reaching.

  • Occasional: kneeling, sitting, squatting, overhead work, fine and gross upper body motor movement

  • Maximum lift: to 30 pounds and assisted lifting

  • Occasional lifting: 0 to 30 pounds

(If used, the percentages of tasks should equal 100% when combined)

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

  • The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in anther department, this includes vision, hearing, and footwear.

  • Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting.

  • All employees are required to apply ergonomic correctness to all job tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work environment is similar to most manufacturing operations. Will be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with moving around machinery, work in confined quarters, exposed to vibrations and shop lighting
