Dakin is looking to hire a full-time Veterinary Technician to join our team and deliver our mission. As the only non-profit, full-service animal welfare organization serving our region, we need to help a lot of people (and their animals). You can help us do it. If you are an organized individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with people, and has excellent time management and organizational skills, we want to hear from you. Primary responsibilities include: Evaluating animals for disease, injury or other health issues and reporting concerns to shelter veterinarian Initiating treatment for sick animals based on written medical protocols Providing medical support and guidance to our foster care volunteers Reviewing and discussing medical records with clients and staff Providing technical assistance to our shelter veterinarian including radiology, lab work and surgical assistance/anesthesia monitoring We are looking for applicants with prior experience working as a technician in an animal shelter or veterinary clinic. Applicants must be proficient in monitoring animals under anesthesia and be able to work independently. Clear communication, attention to detail, and ability to focus with multiple priorities is necessary. This position is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with cats! This position requires working one weekend day.
