Position Summary

The Custodian is responsible for keeping the production facility clean and in working order. Dependability is a must, so the individual in this position will need to maintain above average attendance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following Buckhorn policies and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain an oil and water-free production floor.
  • Operate/Maintain floor scrubbers and other powered cleaning equipment.
  • Operate forklift to move pallets of cleaning materials (Simple Green Drums, Absorbent Socks, etc.)
  • Operate forklift to move wastewater/waste oil totes.
  • Separate waste oil and water and properly store totes.
  • Utilize forklift to deliver waste oil and absorbent socks to vendor pick up area.
  • Inventory and properly store janitorial supplies and keep supplies stocked on a regular basis.
  • Clean and inspect exterior of plant (sidewalks, trash, etc.).
  • Set up and tear down meeting rooms.
  • General cleaning duties as assigned to include breakrooms, restrooms, offices, and other facility areas.
  • Trash removal.
  • Performs light maintenance work as requested, including hanging signs, snow removal from sidewalks, etc.
  • Assists with recycling efforts by collecting and preparing plant recyclable items.
  • Properly disposes of Biohazards (i.e., blood and body fluids) as needed for Quality and Environmental.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions; ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to do two mathematical operations to arrive at the solution; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; ability to work effectively with coworkers and supervision.

Education and Experience

  • At least three months related experience.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Must have a valid and current driver's license and can pass a driver's license check. Selected candidate will be required to become forklift certified.
