Job Description The Economic Development Manager at the City of Springfield plays a pivotal role in fostering economic growth and vitalitywithin the community. This position operates within the City Manager's Office, leading a dynamic team and managing keyinitiatives that contribute to achieving the city's economic development goals. This position provides leadership to theEconomic Development team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. It also manages the MinorityBusiness Coordinator, overseeing their activities and ensuring the effective execution of the city's Minority Business ServiceProgram. Examples of Duties Any one position may not include all of the specific duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties that may beperformed. Oversee and manage incentive programs, including Enterprise Zones, Community Reinvestment Areas and TaxIncrement Financing initiatives. Facilitate business retention and expansion meetings, developing and implementing strategies to support the growthof existing businesses within the community. Formulate, review, and recommend economic development policies that align with the city's strategic objectives. Stay current with industry trends and best practices, conducting research as required to inform policy decisions. Direct the city's Minority Business Service Program, working to enhance opportunities for minority-owned businessesand fostering diversity and inclusion in economic development activities. Conduct in-depth research on economic development policies, practices, and trends, providing insights to informdecision-making and strategic planning. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including businesses, community organizations, and governmentagencies, to strengthen partnerships and support overall economic development efforts.
