We are looking for a Hunting Clothing Merchant to join our team and help provide our customers with the best hunting apparel and gear on the market.

Position Summary: As a Hunting Clothing Merchant at Bass Pro Shops, you will be responsible for managing our hunting apparel line, ensuring that we offer high-quality products that meet the needs of our diverse customer base. You will work closely with vendors, manage inventory, and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in hunting gear and clothing. Your expertise will help hunters stay comfortable, safe, and effective in the field.

Essential Functions:

  • Works with Divisional Merchandise Manager to develop and execute all aspects of category strategic planning.

  • Lead the creation of our Owned Brands in Hunt Clothing, collaborating with Design and Development to bring best-in-class products to our customer.

  • Work with National Brands to curate a selection of hunting clothing that completes the assortment for our customer.

  • Manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock at all times, avoiding overstock and stockouts.

  • Analyze sales data and customer feedback to identify trends, forecast demand, and make informed purchasing decisions.

  • Works with Divisional Merchandise Manager and Finance Teams to develop category financial goals.

  • Stay informed about the latest developments in hunting apparel technology, materials, and design to offer cutting-edge products.

  • Train and lead store associates on product knowledge, selling techniques, and customer service specific to the hunting apparel department.

  • Organize and oversee in-store promotions, displays, and marketing efforts for the hunting clothing line.

  • Work with the marketing team to develop strategies to increase sales and brand awareness of our hunting apparel offerings.

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as industry regulations.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, retail management, or a related field preferred.

  • 5+ Years of experience

  • Proven experience in retail, with a preference for experience in outdoor, hunting, or apparel sectors.

Knowledge Skills And Ability:

  • Strong understanding of the hunting industry, including trends, seasons, and customer needs.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with customers, staff, and vendors.

  • Ability to analyze data and market trends to make strategic merchandising decisions.

  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Passion for the outdoors and knowledge of hunting practices and equipment.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some travel required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regularly walks, sit, stands and performs computer work

  • Occasionally lifts up to 50lbs.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT :

  • Develops strategic direction, goals, plans and policies for an area of responsibility. Sets broad objectives and is accountable for overall results in respective area of responsibility. Authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance. Requires high degree of independent judgment and problem solving of complex problems.
