Cabela's Infrastructure Application Services Manager in Springfield, United States

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for planning, architecting, configuration, implementation and management of systems and servers in highly available configurations across geographically diverse locations. Manage system administrators and engineers in accordance with the vision and strategy of SDM. Responsible for ensuring that team members are contributing to operational needs of the organization as well as delivering in projects as assigned. Performs resource management and reviews of team members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage day to day activities of one or more teams.

  • Assign resources in coordination with SDM to projects and daily tasks.

  • Provide guidance to team members and hold them accountable to assigned duties.

  • Maintain a record of all assigned tasks and ensure duties are being met, such as utilizing Jira or other like products for task management.

  • Set up, configure, and manage server hardware, operating systems, Active Directory, Azure, Office 365, DNS/DHCP, & etc.

  • Install, configure, manage, and maintain software.

  • Deploy monitoring and reporting tools and prepare reports for management.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent documented work experience.

  • Experience: 3+ years’ experience leading IT teams, especially engineering/system administrator teams. 5+ years’ experience implementing and troubleshooting Microsoft and client Operating Systems.

  • A solid understanding of networked/distributed computing environment concepts and principles of routing; knowledge of tools to diagnose and resolve routing problems.

  • Considerable knowledge of disaster recovery principles and methods.

  • Solid understanding of commonly accepted IT security principles and practices.

  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills and adapt to new technologies.

  • Working knowledge of VMWARE, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Office 365, Azure, and Internet Protocols.

  • Analytical Skills– Ability to remain neutral, quickly identify the problem, then offer sound rational solutions.

  • Critical Thinking– Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Focusing on Action and Outcomes –Ability to attack everything with drive and energy with an eye on the bottom line; drives to bring every assigned task to an on time completion.

  • Project Management– Ability to bring projects to completion by obtaining the collaboration of interdepartmental team members.

  • Time Management– Ability to manage one's own time and the time of others.

  • Organizational Skills– Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects.

  • Flexibility– Ability to work in a fast paced environment, and to switch between technical needs and team member guidance.

  • Computer skills– Possesses intermediate to advanced Microsoft Suite Knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, O365, and etc

  • Communicating Effectively– Ability to write and present effectively, adjusts to fit the audience and the message, succinctly gets message across.

  • Detailed Oriented– Ability to be well organized and resourceful, has the ability to reduce a complex concept or task into something that is manageable and clearly interpreted. Can work on multiple tasks at once without losing track, foresees and plans around obstacles.

  • Team player– Ability to manage solid working relationships within the company. Able to complete tasks and work cooperatively with others.

  • Adaptability- Ability to respond and adapt to changing circumstances and to manage, solve problems and provide solutions.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT :

  • Develops objectives and general policies and procedures for a specific program or functional area of responsibility within general scope of established operational goals and plans. Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by supervisor.
