JOB TITLE:  Truss Design Manager

 

JOB LOCATION:  St. George, UT

*FUNCTION:  *Responsible for hiring, training, and managing design/estimating team for the Truss manufacturing operations.  Also works with sales team and location level leadership in meeting customer demand.

 

KEY ACTIVITIES:

  • Visualize, fulfill, and implement the company vision and core values.
  • Recruit and manage a team of designers by providing training, supervision, and workload distribution.
  • Manage the production of design layouts and shop drawings for truss and building components including implementation of quality control procedures.
  • Collaborate with design, production, sales team and customers on specifications of designs, technical feasibility and production plan.
  • Work with the sales team to analyze data and ensure accurate project quotes.
  • Ensures that compliance, regulatory, and safety guidelines are met.
  • Troubleshoot and resolves issues with the design system and provide technical support to sales and design team.
  • Evaluate new releases of the software being used and assesses and mitigates the impact that upgrades would have on the organization.
  • Develop and continuously improve processes in coordination with design, production, and sales.
  • Perform design services as customer demand requires.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles.
  • Superior proficiency and understanding of Truss industry design software suites i.e. Mitek, Alpine, Simpson, etc.
  • Ability to design, including: reading and interpreting architectural and structural blueprints.
  • Knowledge of current local codes associated with building material supplies.
  • Demonstrate initiative and reliability.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a team's work and foster teamwork.
  • Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills.
  • Conceptual, creative, and problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years experience in residential/commerci al construction industry.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sedentary work, exerting up to 15 lbs. of force.
  • Repetitive motion associated with operating a computer and other office equipment.
  • Inside, climate-controlled working conditions, seated at a desk for extended periods of time.
