Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital Medical Lab Technician I or Medical Technologist I in St. Johnsbury, Vermont

Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) seeks a dedicated Medical Lab Technician I or Medical Technologist I to join our team. The Medical Lab Technician I or Medical Technologist I provides professional clinical laboratory services, including various laboratory analyses, proficiency testing, quality control, professional consultation, instrument maintenance and validation, specimen collection and management, and other functions to attain these goals.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the daily operation in any area of the laboratory, including requests for routine and STAT testing.

  • Generalist tech duties include standardized and semi-routine biological, chemical, hematological, immunological, immunohematological, microbiological, and serological tests in a clinical laboratory, but not limited to these.

  • May perform phlebotomy and other duties associated with Laboratory Assistant while interacting with patients in a way that demonstrates knowledge and sensitivity appropriate for all patients' ages.

  • Responsible for examining human or animal specimens, providing information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease, or assessing a medical condition. This includes the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases and all associated clerical duties of such examinations in all departmental areas.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have an Associate's Degree in Health Science; a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Lab Science is preferred. Certification and registration are required for ASCP or HHS. Must be able to work in all areas of the clinical laboratory as a generalist.
