Three-star rating from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) for its patient care and outcomes in medication administration in isolated coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) procedures for the second year in a row. 1 of only 160 healthcare systems in the nation to receive a Blue Distinction Center+ designation for Cardiac Care by the national Blue Cross Blue Shield Association. The emergency departments in Niles and St. Joseph are two of only 13 accredited Chest Pain Centers in Michigan, an honor that means we can provide specialized care for patients with heart attack symptoms.

Scope of work

Performs a variety of cardiac testing including, stress, transesophageal, transthoracic, dobutamine stress echocardiograms and others as indicated (ICE, 3D, strain, specialty and fetal echocardiograms); calculates acquired data and prepares study for medical staff interpretation. Performs ultrasound tests appropriate for patient specific morphology and pathology. Performs calculations per protocol, uses critical thinking skills to assess validity of calculations. Documents exam performance in electronic medical record, on hospital financial system.

Qualifications

  • Required Associate's Degree from an accredited ultrasound program or equivalent

  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree

  • skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through schooling training and experience related to echo including in two-dimensional, doppler, color doppler, transesophageal echocardiology (TEE), transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), stress echo and understanding of complex congenital heart disease and surgical repairs. Required

  • 3 years of relevant experience in two-dimensional, doppler, color doppler, transesophageal echocardiology (TEE), transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), stress echos and understanding of complex congenital heart disease and surgical repairs. Preferred

  • CRT-Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, Registered (RDCS) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography 180 Days required Or

  • CRT-Cardiac Sonographer, Registered (RCS) - UNKNOWN Unknown 180 Days required Or

  • CRT-Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography HDVCH Upon Hire required

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
