*This is a hybrid role and can be based at one of our locations in Michigan, Indiana, North Carolina, Arkansas, or Nevada.

General Summary(What is done and why)

The Manager, Mortgage Processing & Continuous Improvement (CI) is responsible for overseeing assigned loan operations teams and processes within the areas of New Loan Submissions, and Continuous Improvement Initiatives. Provides management with trending reports, metrics, supporting sales leadership and remains current on mortgage regulations.

Essential Functions, in Priority Order(Majority of duties, but not meant to be all inclusive or prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary)

  • Oversee New Loan Submissions of all first mortgage loans and manage the process of the loan processing team with a focus on quality, training, and workflow efficiencies. Perform effective coaching, cross training, performance evaluation and recognition of staff. Create a positive, effective work environment conducive of open communications and collaborative problem-solving with Sales and Mortgage Ops department.Time40%

  • Responsible for continuous improvement initiatives that results in operational efficiencies, implementation of best practices, and consistent achievement of high service standards. Responsible to monitor effectiveness of systems, workflow processes, and reporting in support of mortgage lending.Time: 20%

  • Responsible for the performance of third-party vendors.Time: 15 %

  • Assists the Audit Department in all necessary internal and external audits and examinations.Time 10%

  • Ensure all expenses are properly tracked and maintained within the General Ledger, and according to budget.Time: 5 %

  • Participate in continuing education activities to maintain current knowledge in the mortgage operations field (RESPA, mortgage guidelines compliance, best practices, competitive service initiatives, etc.).Time: 5%

  • Responsible for representing Mortgage Operations on cross-functional project teams and achieving desired results, availability to sales management and Operations leadership requests. Time: 5 %

Qualifications

Education(Minimum education required to perform the duties of this position)

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or four years of related work experience required.

     

    Experience(Minimum experience required to perform the duties of this position)

    In additionto the education requirement:

  • One or more years of managerial experience preferred.

  • Two years of experience in mortgage operations/portfolio and agency quality responsibilities including sound knowledge and application of State and Federal regulations and compliance required.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities(Minimum technical and communication skill levels and licenses/certificates normally required to perform the duties of this position)

  • Thorough business knowledge of the real estate lending industry.

  • Daily, personal/written/phone contact with Mortgage Operations Team; providing coaching, training, supervision etc.

  • Daily, personal/written/phone contact with other Credit Union Operations Staff to collaborate on operational efficiencies.

  • Limited member personal/written/phone contact for resolution or guidance purposes.

  • Limited personal/written/phone contact with strategic partners as needed.

     

    Physical Demands(Physical effort generally associated with this position)

    Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most work is done from a seated position. There is potential for eyestrain from reading detailed reports and computer screen. Deadlines, workloads and pressure to achieve goals may cause increased stress levels.

     

    Working Conditions(Typical working conditions associated with this type of work and environmental hazards, if any, that may be encountered in performing the duties of this position)

    Internal- Work is normally performed in climate-controlled office environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc). No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of duties. Length of day is unpredictable; long hours may be required to accommodate deadlines or special meetings.

    External- Some overnight travel is required; however, information on environmental conditions is not available.
