Our service area covers 64 counties and more than 500 communities including the greater St. Louis area.
The Mechanical (ME) Engineer performs engineering studies, designs, technical specification development, construction, and commissioning activities for new natural gas combined cycle(NGCC) and simple cycle gas turbine(SC) energy centers for Ameren Missouri. In addition, this role may require support for projects at other existing or new Power Operations Generation facilities including fossil, gas, hydro and renewable. The position will include project support duties that may require long and/or non-standard work hours. The Mechanical Engineer will report to the Supervising Engineer – Combined Cycle Project Execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the development and review of mechanical engineering specific requirements for existing generating fleet, new simple cycle and new combined cycle generation projects.
Lead mechanical engineering technical support for all phases of simple cycle, combined cycle and other generation projects.
Create, review, and participate in projects design, planning, and constructability reviews, value engineering, permitting, risk review, and lessons learned.
Develop equipment specification for simple cycle and combined cycle power island equipment and auxiliary support equipment.
Develop construction specifications and complete bid documents, direct drawing preparation and assist in providing cost estimates.
Interact and collaborate with various engineering groups, vendors, contractors, architect/engineering firms, and internal customers to achieve project objectives.
Assist or lead in the planning, project oversight/management, inspections, and commissioning of projects.
Review shop drawings, perform site visits and inspections during construction, and use problem solving skills to develop timely resolutions to field issues.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear. Engineering from an accredited college or university required. Missouri Professional
Engineer (P.E.) License or commitment to actively pursue one in Missouri preferred. Experience in the design of steel, concrete structures and foundations preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
preferred. Three or more years of civil engineering experience preferred
Experience in the following commercial software applications is preferred: AutoCAD, FATHOM and Bluebeam. High proficiency in MS Office applications.
