Copeland, a new standalone company in the HVACR industry, is looking for a Product Planner to join its HVACR Americas Hermetic Motors team based in St. Louis, MO. As a Product Planner, you will work closely with Copeland’s New Product Development teams, ranging in functions from Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and executive leadership to develop and implement the projects that drive incremental growth for the business and support the Enterprise strategy. You will work with business leaders from across the organization to support strategic plans, gain business and market insights, and drive understanding for strategies throughout the organization. A core capability of this role and function is to educate, align, and influence the organization as a whole on the key program drivers, risks, and deadlines associated with your product line.

Product and Portfolio Management

  • Maintain a comprehensive view of all Residential Light Commerical projects and own the internal organization in prioritizing projects based on needs and resources

  • Assess market segment expectations and requirements to develop a long-term product platform roadmap including prioritization of technology projects needed for current and future NPD

  • Drive profitable sales growth through new, high-value products and changes to existing products

  • Understand, coordinate, and communicate compression specifications for new product programs accounting for limitations, competitive differentiation, and scope management

  • Understand competitors, market trends, product offering gaps, and project/product trade-offs

  • Prepare and update product volume/mix forecasts, capacity plans, and cost estimates

  • Proactively communicate project status and resolve technical, commercial, and time-to-market trade-offs for projects in the portfolio

  • Ensure coordination of internal resources for key projects in the portfolio and coordinate with the compression team on resourcing plan

  • Present regular portfolio and project updates to senior management groups and other stakeholders

Account Management

  • Serve as the preliminary point of contact for the compression team for all products and projects in your portfolio

  • Provide ongoing support when key stakeholders have questions or need information on product cost, structure, content, volumes, capacity, manufacturing processes, etc.

  • Troubleshoot issues for existing products that require a cross-functional team

  • Know the key internal and external contacts and run/connect the various stakeholders

Project Manager for New Product Development projects

  • Ensure compliance to and lead NPD Phase Gate Process by following Copeland's Gate Review Process

  • Define NPD project scope and schedule, communicate resource needs, develop & supervise project budget, and document lessons learned

  • Lead or participate in regular NPD project meetings with cross-functional teams to ensure project speed and quality

  • Host or participate in Lean Product Development events with a cross-functional internal team including regular Risk Mitigation Events

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field

  • 3 to 5+ years in a previous business role

  • Ability to build and use quantitative analysis, spreadsheet/ database tools, or other project management software to assist in planning and decision-making

  • Strong interpersonal skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to comfortably engage with executive leadership

  • Ability to direct a team of peers through influence

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Previous experience with project management or technical product development

  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and data leadership skills

  • Experience in Business Intelligence and Analytics tools

  • Ability to travel domestically or, occasionally, internationally

Flexible Work Schedule – Hybrid Work Option and Core Hours

This role has the flexibility of a hybird work from home option up to three days a week and a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
