Emerson Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer in St. Louis, Missouri

Emerson Tool Company is seeking a Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer (depending on experience) to lead a collaborative international team in product design and development. This includes control / supervision of all phases of new product design development as well as sustaining engineering to maintain current product offerings. You will work in an exciting, multi-functional design environment, with a company that financially recognizes patentable contributions. In addition, you will lead teams consisting of Engineers and Designers in their design efforts; as well as production support for Operations.

In this role, your responsibilities will be:

  • Work as part of a team to develop new products designs from concept to full production for sophisticated projects and major product lines in a Lean environment.

  • Work collaboratively with other departments including Marketing, Sales, and Manufacturing to develop product specifications with a Design for Manufacturing approach.

  • Establish the project’s goals, approaches and gain alignment.

  • Establish project budgets, plan staffing and schedule projects to meet required completion dates with a sense of urgency, efficiently leading all aspects of engineering resources

  • Review, evaluate and report project status in written and verbal form on a regular basis, recommend changes in procedures or objectives as required

  • Lead work and technical development of assigned Engineering personnel; review performance of said personnel

  • Specify, request and assists in the build of aesthetic and functional prototypes using rapid prototyping technology as well as conventional fabrication techniques

  • Monitor prototype construction, laboratory testing, and agency testing/approvals during the evolution of the product design.

  • Provide support to sustaining engineering to maintain current products and resolve production issues

  • Apply Engineering Theory and sound Engineering practices to tackle mechanical and fabrication problems. Provide technical mentorship and direction to designers, drafters, test laboratory and model shop personnel. Support and lead material and component selection.

  • Identify, analyze and tackle complex Engineering problems. Sort and differentiate information; formulate, coordinate and follow step-by-step problem solving, documentation and reporting procedures.

For this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related Engineering field

  • Relevant years of experience with product design and development, 3D modeling, drafting, CAE commensurate with the level of this position.

  • Prior experience using various hand and full-size power tools

  • Domestic and international travel

  • Able to identify, analyze and tackle complex Engineering problems. Sort & differentiate information; formulate, organize & follow step-by-step problem solving, documentation and reporting procedures.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United State - sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

Preferred qualifications that set you apart:

  • 8+ years of experience with product design and development, 3D modeling, drafting, CAE

  • Experience in plastic design including injection, roto and blow molding

  • 3D modeling with Siemens NX and Teamcenter

  • Product Design using FEA and CFD analysis

  • Previous Design experience of power tool products, HVAC Products, or other applicable consumer based products
