nVent Director of Employee Communications in St Louis Park, Minnesota

The Director of Employee Communications will report directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer and have a dotted line reporting to the CMO and be part of the HR Leadership Team. This position will be responsible for employee communications, including developing the content for and producing written and visual communications for employees around the world.

This person will build and implement a compelling employee communications strategy to drive engagement in alignment with nVent’s mission, vision, and values. Along with their team, this leader will work with the Human Resources team to amplify the people strategy and initiatives internally as well as coordinating with our external communications team to extend that message via multiple mediums.

This role requires a deep expertise around communications as well as the tactical know-how to champion the work, and the demeanor required to assess, improve, grow and diversify employee communications including expanding nVent's intranet usage to drive interaction and connections for employees.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

  • Foster and lead the execution of the global employee communication strategy including the tactics in support of key priorities – including employee programs, nVent’s growth, Inclusion & Diversity, and events such as global Town Hall meetings

  • Drive internal communications programs that foster knowledge sharing and company culture

  • Relate to the different audiences and promote interactive, two-way channels that connect leaders and employees

  • Lead and develop staff responsible for preparation of employee communications regarding company performance, future direction, human resources policies and other important topics

  • Create and oversee the nVent editorial/content planning for employee communications, including various mediums such as written messages, videos and intranet stories

  • Be an active member of the crisis communications team and support the strategy to engage with senior leaders on communicating around issues and crisis communications

  • Collaborate with project teams on M&A communications

  • Liaison with the Director, External Communications to align on communications strategy

  • Lead a team of communication professionals to achieve the functional goals

YOU HAVE:

  • Academic background with a bachelor’s degree in public relations, Journalism, Mass Communications, English, Marketing or related field of study

  • 10+ years’ experience related career experience showing progressively increasing levels of responsibility with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in leading a communications team

  • Experience developing and executing organizational communication strategies including change management and employee engagement.

  • Experience working in a global organization and understanding the cultural nuances of communications across regions and countries

  • A strong orientation towards serving your internal customers, being a problem solver and a true business partner

  • Exceptional storytelling abilities to produce messages that are clear and concise and also reflect our values in messaging and themes.

  • Ability to establish and maintain credibility with company executives to understand and capture the “voice” of senior leaders in written communication
