UMPhysicians NAVIGATE Supported Education and Employment Specialist (SEE) in St. Louis Park, Minnesota

Why M Physicians? The NAVIGATE program at M Physicians is affiliated with the University of Minnesota Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, a leader in first episode psychosis care and research. The NAVIGATE program started in 2017 with the support of grant funds from the Minnesota Department of Human Services. NAVIGATE is an evidence-based coordinated specialty care program to treat first episode psychosis in schizophrenia spectrum disorders. This interdisciplinary team-based approach is resiliency- and recovery-focused. Team members work with individuals ages 15 to 40 years old, and their natural support persons, to help them understand their illness and develop skills that help them get back on track and live rich and meaningful lives. NAVIGATE involves a number of different interventions including medication management, individual resiliency training (IRT), help getting back to work or school (Supported Employment and Education or SEE), peer support, case management and care coordination, and family support and education. NAVIGATE team members are highly skilled at providing both clinical and non-clinical support and services to individuals and families impacted by a first episode of psychosis, whether that be in the clinic, community, or an individual's home. Team members are highly collaborative, attend weekly team meetings to discuss patient care, and receive one-to-one supervision from the program's director. What you will do as a Supported Education and Employment Specialist (SEE): Works directly in the community to find suitable employers and potential employers in the community. Seeks out and works directly with educational personnel to provide suitable training or educational opportunities. Works directly with client and employers/educators to develop individualized placements that cater towards person's needs. Works with person to develop and request reasonable accommodations on the job or in educational settings. Helps clients to achieve recovery goals related to education and employment using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model as much as possible. Provides in vivo training to improve client's interviewing skills, resume writing, applying to jobs, etc. Assists as needed with on the job training/job coaching. Supports individuals who have attained a job with ongoing supports/regular check ins to provide work-related problem solving, coping with symptoms or cognitive difficulties, direct on the job training, coaching on social skills, etc. Supports individuals enrolled in educational program by coaching on study and organizational skills, coping with symptoms or cognitive difficulties. Participate in SEE Training Attend SEE supervision and consultation calls Attend and participate in weekly team meetings What you will need: Bachelor's Degree in related area or degree with directly related experience Experience as a supported education or supported employment specialist, or as a vocational specialist Online and computer skills, Driver's license, coaching skills, and problem solving and dispute resolution Available beyond the traditional office hours if needed by clients and comfortable working directly in the community with employers, potential employers and educational personnel This role may require the employee to be available beyond traditional office hours.
