The Medical Records Specialist is primarily responsible for coordinating the day-to-day workflow of the medical records department in Population Health through Athena tasks and order management with direction from the Office Manager or designee. This will include successful management of quality & compliance, the Lifespark Experience, and medical records. Position Functions and Responsibilities Coordination of medical records for team Works the Medical records inbox daily and completes all tasks timely Manage records process from receiving referral to complete hand-off to provider team Coordinate with campuses to manage referral for necessary admissions paperwork including POA documentation Completes data entry and all required documentation for campus referrals Able to answer phones with appropriate customer service and helps resolve issues or concerns of caller. Quality/Compliance Maintain accurate EMR records from referral intake to home health hand-off Seek input from team for improved processes, creating a team environment, and overcoming any obstacles Seek and share opportunities where technology can improve business process and overall efficiencies Provide team coverage to other departments as needed Ensure policies, procedures, and best practices are implemented Other duties as assigned Qualifications One to Three years of experience in medical records or customer service preferred. At least 18 years of age and is a high school graduate or equivalent Verification of COVID vaccine status or receiving an approved exemption. Strong phone skills, Customer Service Focus Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Organization and Detail Orientation Implementation, Follow-through, and Accountability Time Management and Prioritization Relationship Skills Communication Customer Focus/Customer Service Public Relations Skills Flexibility Ability to Solve Problems Stress Management Team Player, Cooperative Initiative, Autonomy Completes work on-time Returns telephone calls, memos, and letters promptly Experience using technology including: Microsoft Office, Smart Phone, Calendaring, Clinical Software platforms (EMR), Wi-Fi, Printers, and Internet Browsing Ability to follow written instructions and type a minimum of 20 words a minute. Strong customer service skills. Knowledge of corporate business management, governme tal regulations preferred.
