This position will:

  • Provide primary coverage for the Department of Commerce Energy Information Center, including telephone, voicemail, email, and web contacts.

  • Respond to consumer contacts in a timely manner.

  • Possess and utilize comprehensive knowledge of the Energy Division's programs and responsibilities.

  • Accurately and clearly convey Energy Division program information, such as eligibility criteria, application requirements, and timelines.

  • Maintain system to retain accurate records of contacts, referrals, and follow-up; analyze to improve responsiveness and recommend systematic improvements.

  • Write and present reports on Energy Information Center activities for Energy Division leadership.

  • Assist and support the Division's energy education and outreach efforts, including in person, electronic, and print media.

Minimum Qualifications

3 (three) years of experience in communications, program administration, education, or a related field.

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, social science, education is equivalent to one (1) year of experience. An advanced degree in communications, social science, education is equivalent to eighteen (18) months of experience.

Applicants who meet the above education/experience requirements will be further evaluated based on the following:

  • Communication skills sufficient to respond effectively and relay information with tact and diplomacy.

  • Organizational skills sufficient to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and coordinate resources effectively.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experiences.

  • Knowledge of standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases sufficient to create and modify documents and files.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with energy programs.

Bilingual in Hmong, Somali, Spanish, or Vietnamese.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer.
