This position is located at the Central Office in St. Paul and has the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent may be expected to work in the office on occasion.
In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and monitoring agency internal controls and improving risk mitigation across MnDOT. The position coordinates the design, implementation, maintenance, monitoring, and assessment of an effective internal control program within the Department of Transportation (MnDOT) to safeguard public funds and assets and minimize fraud, waste, and abuse incidences. Additionally, the position is responsible for monitoring the status of corrective action for the agency’s audit findings to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and rules including documentation of internal control procedures.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting in developing and supporting the Safeguarding MnDOT annual risk assessment program.
Provide ongoing monitoring of mitigation actions taken by the MnDOT office and districts as a result of audits conducted by the Office of Legislative Auditor, Office of the State Auditor, Federal Highway Administration, and MnDOT Office of Audit, etc.
Implementing, maintaining, coordinating, and assessing the internal control program, including the Safeguarding MnDOT program plan; and
Developing and facilitating a communications and training plan for the Safeguarding MnDOT program to increase awareness of the importance of internal controls throughout MnDOT.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of advanced professional accounting or finance experience that demonstrates:
(*NOTE: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (with an accounting concentration) substitutes for six months of advanced professional accounting or finance experience.)
Experience researching and analyzing financial information.
Experience writing technical and business documentation for end users.
Experience applying Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government (Green Book), Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) Internal Control Framework, or similar internal control.
Experience developing process flows for financial topics.
Preferred Qualifications
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (with an accounting concentration).
Knowledge of MnDOT’s business and operations.
Experience developing and/or delivering training to diverse audiences.
