Overview: The Veeco MBE (Molecular Beam Epitaxy) manufacturing facility located in St. Paul, MN is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will help develop manufacturing processes and provide related technical support for new and existing products from initial release to end of life, ensuring quality meets best-in-classrequirements. This includes work on all aspects of manufacturing engineering, related projects, solving production issues and coordinating activities with various internal and external suppliers. You must be able to take ownership, drive, and support development changes necessary for successful product production (zero defect target). Responsibilities: Work with assembly and final test operations to support troubleshooting of mechanical and/or electrical issues. Create and maintain routings, work instructions, and test requirements in SAP. Participate in Product Life Cycle (PLC) projects for implementation of new products. Execute engineering change orders (ECOs), as well as incorporate shop floor control. Create manufacturing BOMs and routers managed in SAP. Assist with Design for Manufacturing (DfM) reviews and participate in Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA). Support large electromechanical tool Engineer to Order (ETO) and Configure to Order (CTO) manufacturing. Implement methods related to Design for Assembly (DfA) and Design for Test (DfT). Work with key stakeholders to evaluate and find issues or areas of risk during design or development from a manufacturing perspective. Formulate containment and corrective actions for ongoing part and equipment issues using the Z2 and Z3 processes in SAP. Analyze and resolve technical and operational problems (Fishbone, 8D analysis, SPC). Develop component dispositions for purchase, send out, phantom and production assemblies to match sourcing, manufacturing, and test requirements. Evaluate existing manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment to find opportunities for improvement; this includes implementing changes as needed to enhance efficiency and productivity. Review and respond to technical queries from suppliers. Perform disposition and rework notifications for non-conforming material. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial) with a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience. Experience in equipment/product manufacturing is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Practical mindset with strong ability to read and interpret highly technical documents (e.g., schematics, mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, bills of material, routings, CAD models, maintenance, and job safety instructions / procedures) provi ed in verbal, written or pictorial form. Experience with systems design input / output processes and working parameters for hardware / software / controls compatibility. Collaboration with Design Engineering on a regular basis to maintain design intent while communicating production and assembly requirements and concerns. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be willing to learn on the job in a fast-paced and challenging work environment. Ability to communicate effectively with purchasing to ensure supplier parts and sub-assemblies meet high quality standards and defined specifications. Knowledge of metrology equipment and measurement methods to adeptly perform incoming inspection analysis (IQA) and disposition of non-conforming materials. Experience with SPC and process control methodologies and the use of related software. Familiarity with manufacturing methods including in-house production, outsource / contract manufacturing, and related manufacturing processes such as plating, etching, annealing, and outgassing for proper surface preparation and cleanliness. Semiconductor machine tool manufacturing experience and knowledge of welding, weld inspection and leak checking are a plus. Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) and clean room experience highly desirable. Experience with machine tools and metal fabrication equipment is helpful. Certification in Lean Six Sigma is a plus. SAP enterprise resource planning experience is preferred. Must be willing to travel on occasion (5%). The expected salary range for this position is $68,351.00 - $86,577.30 + bonus + benefits.
