Join a mission-driven team in the Operations Unit of the Facilities Management Division of the Minnesota Department of Health where your skills will contribute to protecting, maintaining, and improving the health of all Minnesotans!

The position exists to provide secure facilities for staff and visitors of the Department of Health. This position will be responsible for assuring that access privileges are set up properly, are approved by supervisors, and are consistent with best practices for security. The candidate hired for this position will also ensure that all security systems are working as designed.

Working as a Security Coordinator within our Operations team, you will:

  • Analyze the physical aspects of security in all facilities for the Minnesota Department of Health to insure proper access control and equipment operation.

  • Serve as project manager for all physical security system projects, expansions, and redesigns.

  • Review and revise security access levels in both the Honeywell EBI and Gentec Security systems.

  • Maintain the hard key and security badge inventory throughout the agency, including data containing inventory of same to non-agency parties.

  • Serve as the Data Steward for all security related data by maintaining and overseeing the records retention schedule.

  • Maintain the key and security bade handling system throughout all facilities for the agency.

  • Review and revise security policies and procedures.

  • Monitor and insure video surveillance for proper operation.

  • Conduct site specific security risk assessments for all department facilities.

Minimum Qualifications

To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending months and year for each job held.

One (1) year of experience performing administrative and support related tasks and duties. This experience must include all the following:

  • Building and security management operations experience.

  • Skill in customer service sufficient to provide prompt and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone and through email and other written and electronic correspondence.

  • Ability to accurately input, verify, and edit electronic data.

Minimum qualifications to be assessed during the interview process:

  • Ability to communicate in a variety of formats to gather and relay information with tact and diplomacy.

  • Human relations skills to relate to a wide variety of professional and managerial staff.

  • Skill and experience in solving building and security issues, with ability to make independent decisions when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience running and analyzing security access reports for the State of Minnesota.

  • Experience writing policies or procedures.

  • Previous experience using Honeywell EBI and Genetec security systems.
