Systems Engineer Role We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Microsoft Systems Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Azure cloud services, and Microsoft 365 (M365). This role involves designing, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex systems to ensure optimal performance and availability. Job Functions System Administration and Maintenance Design, implement, and manage Azure cloud solutions, including virtual machines, Entra ID administration and Identity and Access Management. Manage and administer M365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams. Manage and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy. Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring high availability and security. Analyzes and resolves technical problems for established Systems and Applications Ensures proper system backup Maintains and supports third-party applications Performs day-to-day maintenance as necessary or scheduled, often during non-business hours System Design Performs the installation, layout, and maintenance of assigned application and system components Consults with users, evaluates requirements, provides cost estimates, plans small projects or components of larger projects, and coordinates tasks for installation and/or configuration of new and existing systems and technologies. Develop and deploy automation scripts using PowerShell or other tools to streamline IT operations. System Implementation Tests and implements server/cloud infrastructure and software to maintain system integrity and effectiveness Installs, upgrades, and configures various systems and applications. Work with the Security department to enforce security measures across Azure and M365 platforms, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards. Helpline Support Provides System support for complex, elevated user problems (tier 3) as needed May assist Helpline personnel in resolving tier 1-2 System issues, as requested Provides technical support to end-users (e.g., associations and their customers) for assigned infrastructure components Provides support in a rotating on-call 24/7 environment Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in computer science or related field 3+ years of related experience Existing Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals. Microsoft Certified: M365 Fundamentals or M365 Enterprise Administrator Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job Required Knowledge and Skills Expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory core components, and virtualization platforms. Strong knowledge of Azure IaaS, PaaS, and related services (e.g., VMs, Azure SQL,etc) Proficiency in administering Entra ID, M365; including Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, and compliance tools. Scripting and automation experience with PowerShell, CLI, or equivalent tools. Familiarity with networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, VPNs, firewalls).
