The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking dynamic leader to join The Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) team as an Assistant Group Supervisor. The Residential Assistant Group Supervisor provides immediate supervision to Security Counselors and Security Counselor Leads within the Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) located in St. Peter. The Residential Group Supervisor Assistant serves to primarily assist in the overall operations of residential units while maintaining a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment. Providing quality care in a safe and secure environment is paramount.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist Group Supervisors in the management of assigned residential units.

  • Promote client participation in the treatment program.

  • Promote general expectations and guidelines for unit programming.

  • Serve as a resource person regarding MSOP policies, procedures, and post order as assigned.

  • Coordinate and/or facilitate functions (i.e. Job Coach, Searches, Incident Command System (ICS), Incident Command System (ICS) Drills, Command Post).

The Minnesota Sex Offender Program serves people who are court ordered to receive sex offense treatment via the civil commitment process. Program staff provide comprehensive services including therapy, education programming, therapeutic recreation, vocational programming and volunteer services, health and wellness to clients in a therapeutic environment where safety and security are at the forefront of all campus activities.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Have one (1) year supervisory experience in a therapeutic, residential or corrective environment;OR

  • Have two (2) years lead work or professional experience in a therapeutic, residential or corrective environment providing counseling, rehabilitative patient care, or direction of client care programs;OR

  • Have three (3) years paraprofessional experience in a therapeutic, residential or corrective environment providing counseling, rehabilitative patient care, or direction of client care programs.

Note: A Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Rehabilitation Therapy, Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences or a related field may be substituted for six (6) months of experience OR one (1) year of any supervisory experience may be substituted for a maximum of six (6) months of experience.

OR an equivalent combination of the above

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with patients/clients with sexual psychopathic personalities, sexually dangerous persons, mentally ill and dangerous, or with developmental disabilities.
