Job Summary:

Under limited direction and with a high level of autonomy, the Vice President, International Business Strategy and Planning is responsible for the continued strategic development and enhancement of key aspects of RJF’s Cross Border/International program. Reporting to the SVP, this role will utilize extensive knowledge and critical analytical skills to support continued identification and resolution of international risk and business issues. Coordinates projects and initiatives throughout all levels of the organization and across all business areas. Leads large and/or multiple projects with significant scope and impact. Works with others in performing difficult assignments that are broad in nature requiring originality and ingenuity with appreciable latitude for unreviewed actions or decisions. Utilizes strong decision-making skills to identify, advise and guide on strategic planning for resolution of complex problems. Results are evaluated at agreed upon milestones for effectiveness in achieving specified results. Extensive contact with management is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with the SVP to critically assess international regulatory information, market and competitive data, and geo-political and other business and risk factors.

  • Leverages knowledge of the industry and foreign business environment to support benchmarking activities for Raymond James’ international business against peer firms.

  • Utilizes strong subject matter experience to lead others throughout the organization, and impact decision-making relating to international business activities and risk issues.

  • Uses relevant information and data to perform continuous evaluations of Raymond James’ international business footprint, risk tolerance, and business practices.

  • Identifies and escalates international reputational and other regulatory risk issues.

  • Leads firm processes and strategic initiatives designed to enhance the manner in which international business is being conducted, and to mitigate those activities presenting heightened risk to Raymond James.

  • Represents the RJF Cross Border/International program to various levels of management, and internal and external stakeholders.

  • Influences positive change through leadership, sound analysis, and demonstrated subject matter expertise.

  • Collaborates extensively with peer Cross Border/ International and other business, legal and risk areas to ensure a cohesive approach.

  • Directs consulting activities for assigned areas of responsibility, across multiple business areas, in accordance with internal standards, relevant foreign statutes and regulations.

  • Oversees multiple engagements concurrently from planning through reporting and produces quality deliverables in accordance with both department and professional standards.

  • Applies comprehensive expertise on the firm’s international business activities and leverages this knowledge into a leadership role in one or more teams.

  • Attracts, develops, and retains talent within the Cross Border/International organization and the Firm.

  • Maintains strong relationships with senior leaders, including executive management, and related control groups.

  • Uses excellent communication skills in order to influence a wide range of internal audiences including respective product, function, and executive management partners.

  • Holds project teams accountable for meeting deliverables, adhering to internal criteria and utilizing consistent methodology.

  • Participates in complex business initiatives and proactively advises and assists the business on change initiatives.

  • Viewed as an expert in evolving industry and regulatory changes impacting the business, providing insight and guidance to business as needed.

  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Expertise in industry practices for conducting business activities in foreign markets

  • Experience in working with international securities regulation

  • Advanced investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry, including in the conduct of retail and institutional business

  • An advanced understanding of Raymond James products and services, especially those associated with offshore clients.

  • Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations.

  • Financial markets and products.

Skill in:

  • Implementing advanced risk theories and concepts.

  • Critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity.

  • Demonstrated ability and success in interacting with and influencing senior leadership, including executive management.

  • Experience in managing against deadlines associated with an annual project plan.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) and a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in a related field, including people management experience.

or

  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • CPA, CFE, CRMA, CIA, CBCP, CISSP, CRISC, Series 7 preferred.
