Judicial Branch of the Virgin Islands Employee Relations Coordinator in St Thomas, Virgin Islands

Nature of Work The Employee Relations Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and executing a wide range of activities associated with employee relations, career development, performance management, advocacy and staffing functions. All duties must be performed with the highest degree of confidentiality. Essential Functions (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.) Administers the recruitment processes including posting, testing, evaluating, interviewing, conducting reference checks and formalizing recommendations. Directs the development of staffing strategies to include approaches to recruitment and collaborating with supervisors and managers to create staffing plans. Administers the appointment processes and employee orientation. Develops and builds hiring processes for a variety of levels from temporary staffing to executive placement. Handles educational institution relations and oversees various sourcing and internship programs. Manages relocation, onboarding and other responsibilities related to staffing administration. Manages the performance evaluation process including recommendations for process improvement as well as implementation. Prepares position descriptions, ensures FLSA classification compliance and oversees job evaluations. Addresses employee inquiries, facilitates communication among employees and management by providing guidance and consultation regarding problem solving, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, litigation avoidance and strives to resolve internal conflict informally through appropriate conflict management and mediation techniques. Manages grievance process. Provides advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, policy and employment laws. Conducts data analysis, determines and recommends appropriate resolutions (from coaching/counseling to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment); and appropriately documents fact findings and recommendations. Assists with developing, recommending, evaluating, training and implementing human capital policies, procedures. Plans, organizes, coordinates, and implements human capital functions, trainings, activities and initiatives relating to the Judicial Branch of the Virgin Islands. Recommends the development and initiation of training programs on employee relations and other organizational development initiatives. Coordinates employee recognition activities and completes special projects as assigned. Administers various benefit programs including but not limited to Workers Compensation, insurance, retirement, and any other specialized benefit programs. Conducts exit interviews, reports, and strategies to address concerns. Streamlines and enhances staffing systems; monitors turnover and performs analysis to increase retention of talent.
