ManTech is seeking a System Safety Engineer to support The Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL) contract in Stafford, VA.

The primary task is to provide Principal for Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health (PESOH) engineering support and Software System Safety Support to MCWL and to assist the MCWL lead engineer and Science & Technology Division with safety engineering.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead Point of Contact (POC) for System Safety

  • Lead any safety working groups

  • Develop/Review System Safety Program documentation

  • Identify/Characterize Hazards.

  • Establish Risk Assessment Codes.

  • Provide Mitigating Recommendations (Design, Safety Devices, Warning Devices, and Procedures & Training).

  • Coordinate/Recommend Testing/Analyses to Validate Safety Case/Mitigating efforts/actions.

  • Prepare Supporting Safety Data Packages.

  • Brief at Requisite Safety Venues, including the Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB); the Fuze and Initiation System Technical Review Panel; and the Software System Safety Technical Review Panel.

  • Support Program Office as Subject Matter Expert for Safety (Program Reviews, Integrated Products Teams.

  • Coordinate Risk Acceptance/Concurrence (PM, PfM, ASN, User, etc.).

  • Document/Archive (Audit Trail, Hazard Tracking Database, Plans, System Safety Working Group Minutes, etc.).

  • Track (Ensure Safety actions are accomplished, update Hazard log, etc.).

  • Actively communicate with Marine Corps Systems Command/WSESRB Safety POCs/related programs as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • US Citizen

  • BA/BS degree and equivalent experience required

  • At least 5 years of Systems Safety experience

  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-882E

  • Familiarity with the Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI

  • 10+ years Systems Safety Experience

  • Experience within the acquisition framework, particularly focused on S&T/RDT&E work for the development of new equipment

  • Experience fielding experimental equipment to the Fleet Marine Force

  • Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project and Visio

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active DoD Secret clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
