ManTech is seeking a System Safety Specialist to provide Environment, Safety, and Occupational Heath (ESOH) support to programs under Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) and Program Executive Officer Land Systems (PEO LS).

The System Safety Specialist will develop, administer, and oversee the implementation of ESOH programs. Requires expanded knowledge and experience in own area; incumbents are still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills. Builds knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. Solves a range of straightforward problems. Analyses possible solutions using standard procedures. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction. Requires expanded conceptual knowledge in own area of expertise while developing additional skill sets. Understands key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Solves standard problems by analyzing possible solutions using experience, judgment, and precedents. Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team; works within guidelines and policies. Explains information to others in straightforward situations. Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 2 or more years of relevant experience.

Active Secret clearance is required.

ManTech is responsible for assisting our Government customer ensure that material solutions developed or acquired by MCSC and PEO LS are system engineered, integrated, interoperable, and certified to provide the warfighter with equipment required to accomplish their mission.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Duties included work planning, special assignments, scheduling, and providing guidance on technical and administrative matters. Review inspection reports, ergonomics surveys, and contractor deliverables to ensure accuracy and provide recommendations. Examine and evaluate organizational safety program management based on knowledge of Marine Corps, OSHA, State, DoD, and other Federal Safety Standards as they relate to the installation’s safety program.

Able to carefully assess full scope of mission requirements and develop achievable safety goals. Comfortable briefing all organizational tiers and well versed at decision making justification for plan development and execution.

We are looking for a Safety Specialist to:

  • Be the lead point of contact for System Safety questions and needs.

  • Identify and characterize hazards to establish Risk Assessment Codes.

  • Provide ESOH recommendations for acquisition areas of responsibility (e.g., hazard tracking systems, risk acceptances, safety releases, battery data packages, National Environmental Policy Act decision memorandums, etc.), and verify that DoD programs adhere to regulations and best practices such as DoDI 5000.02 and MIL-STD-882E.

  • Provide independent analysis of programmatic ESOH efforts, ensuring ESOH efforts are integrated into overall systems engineering activities, providing integrated logistics assessments and milestone and fielding recommendations, providing subject matter expert (SME) review and recommendations for acquisition program safety requirements.

  • Ensure consistent compliance with all applicable safety requirements during an investigation pertaining to law, regulations, orders, policies and procedures.

  • Investigate mishap, property damage and near miss incidents to engage in the series of events and gain an understanding of the causes to advance towards the effective actions to mitigate or eradicate the hazards.

  • Advise numerous Commands and Units on safety issues involving recreation and off-duty safety, mishap prevention and controls, the use and care of personal protective equipment, hazard communication, and other potential problem areas that could lead to injury, damage to property, or tort liability. Participate in review boards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires Bachelor's Degree and at least 7 years of experience with the following ( additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree ):

  • DoDI 5000.02 and MIL-STD 882E safety guidance and best practices

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Regulations

Physical Requirements :

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.

The projected compensation range for this position is $110,800-$185,500. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. In addition, ManTech invests in it’s employees beyond just compensation.
