Spectrum Systems Engineer II in Stamford, Connecticut

This position reflects an emphasis on data-related tasks, including database management, data processing, analysis, visualization, and some scripting or programming tasks. The individual in this role will be responsible for building and supporting cross-database ETL, processing, analysis, and visualization solutions. The successful candidate will possess a variety of tools and skills, including experience with SQL (Microsoft, Oracle, Postgres, Trino), web development using HTML/CSS/PHP/JavaScript, and application development/scripting. They must demonstrate the ability to solve complex problems, document technical processes, and communicate effectively.

Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.

Contributes to design sessions with OSS Architects, Requirements Analysts, IT Operations and OSS Systems Engineers.

Reviews existing integration capabilities, data sources, and proposed solution designs for feasibility, cost and functionality.

Creates detailed design documents and functional specifications for new applications / services and for enhancements to existing systems / services.

Creates work effort estimates for assigned tasks and support prioritization and release management.

Develops of core code modules, unit test tools and release notes for enhancements and bug fixes.

Installs, administers, configures and maintains OSS applications including operating systems and related software.

Provides 'on call' support to resolve OSS application issues after normal business hours.

Uses established change management processes, requiring operational procedures be performed with minimal customer impact, (i.e. during established maintenance window).

Works with database administrators to configure, tune and maintain databases in variety of languages.

Documents systems configurations and upgrades.

Designs and implements change control policies and disaster recovery plans.

Monitors and assists in managing applications, device availability, network conditions and system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance and storage resources.

Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

Demonstrated in-depth ability to conduct design sessions to specify solution designs for feasibility, cost, and functionality

Demonstrated in-depth ability to create detailed documentation to functionally understand new and existing applications

Demonstrated in-depth ability to follow and implement established change and control policies and procedures

Demonstrated in-depth ability to troubleshoot application problems Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of development tools, application frameworks, and testing tools

Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of OSS applications and software Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of choosing the appropriate lifecycle and the planning, monitoring and control of the systems engineering process

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience; May require Industry Standard Certifications
