The Department of Pathology is a founding department of the Stanford School of Medicine and one of the leading departments in the United States. About the Lab:

The Svensson Laboratory is dedicated to the discovery of new ligands that can control metabolism. We are using a combination of omics, gene editing and physiology approaches to better understand how to target complex diseases such as aging, metabolic diseases, and cancer.

Schedule: Monday – Friday – 9am-5pm

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with general laboratory techniques, especially basic molecular and cellular biology techniques (including DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, DNA assembly, bacterial transformation, eukaryotic cell culture, etc.)

  • Prior experience in the design and assembly of DNA constructs

  • Prior experience with human and mouse cell cultures

  • Prior experience with DNA sequencing technologies, including Sanger and NGS

Education & Experience (Required):

One year’s employment experience in laboratory work or a combination of equivalent education and relevant work experience/training (e.g., one year of college science)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Required):

Work requires the ability to follow detailed instructions and keep accurate records.

Physical Requirements*:

  • Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, write by hand.

  • Ability to stand and move on hard surfaces for up to eight hours.

  • Occasionally lift and handle materials up to 20 pounds

  • Rarely carry/pull and/or push up to 20 pounds

  • Must have correctible vision to perform duties of the job.

  • Position may require repetitive motion.

Working Conditions:

  • Work occurs in a research laboratory environment. Depending on research, may work in the vicinity of animals, chemicals, gasses, or hazardous materials. Expected to follow all safety requirements and procedures including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) if required.

  • Due to the nature of the work, this position will be fully onsite.

The expected pay range for this position is $30.67 (Step 1) to $36.98 (Step 10) per hour. Placement in the pay range is subject to the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
