Doctoral Lecturer - Mathematics/STEM Education

FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Curriculum & Instruction, in the School of Education at the College of Staten Island (CSI) of the City University of New York (CUNY), invites applications for a faculty position in Mathematics /STEM Education at doctoral lecturer level, to begin in August, 2025.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics/STEM education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at both elementary and secondary levels. The successful candidate will also teach within and serve as the SOE’s liaison to CSI’s Teacher Education Honors Academy, designed to educate inspirational middle and high school math and science teachers. The successful candidate will also coordinate methods courses that offer interdisciplinary possibilities for general education teachers. Participation in department and college committees are required and an active research agenda is constructive.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Doctoral degree in Mathematics Education or Mathematics or Science Education

  • Minimum one year teaching experiences in Mathematics/STEM education in PreK-12 schools.

  • Familiarity with curricula and materials at both the elementary and secondary levels.

  • Minimum one year experience in supervising and mentoring pre-service teacher candidates in Mathematics/STEAM education

  • Demonstrated commitment to facilitating interdisciplinary work and co-teach with colleagues of other disciplines.

  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence of teaching and research.

  • Strong commitment to promoting diversity and inclusiveness for conventionally disadvantaged learners.

COMPENSATION

$82,102 - $88,998

Salary commensurate with experience.
