TEKsystems Systems Administrator in Staunton, Virginia

System Administrator

Location: Staunton, VA

Work Environment: On-site; 8a-4p

About the Role:

This position supports the network and systems environment for our government client's Traffic Operations Center (TOC) in Staunton, VA. The TOC operates 24x7x365, managing IoT devices on roadways to provide situational awareness, support district leadership and traffic operations SMEs, assist with travel and incident management, and manage district/corridor operational technology (OT) services. The OT serves as the center of excellence for various TOCs across the state, coordinating break-fix efforts and assisting with service restoration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and related infrastructure.

  • Ensuring adherence to Commonwealth policies, standards, and guidelines.

  • Systems administration engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance, and research and development.

  • Installing and configuring new servers, hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage.

  • Performing daily system monitoring, security monitoring, backup operations, and file archival.

  • Managing user accounts and providing Tier III support.

  • Investigating and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.

  • Applying OS patches and upgrades, and configuring new services as necessary.

  • Supporting GIS infrastructure applications or asset management applications.

  • Performing performance reporting, tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization.

Required Skills:

  • Technical Experience:

  • 3+ years of Windows systems administration (troubleshooting, spinning up servers, AD, GPO).

  • Virtual server experience (VMware preferred).

  • Nice-to-have: Network experience (layer 1 – rack & stack, cabling, etc.).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00
