United States Fleet Forces Command MATERIAL HANDLER (FORKLIFT OPERATOR) in Stennis Space Center, Mississippi

Summary You will serve as a MATERIAL HANDLER (FORKLIFT OPERATOR) in the WAREHOUSE, TRANSPORTATION, AND DISTRIBUTION BRANCH, SUPPLY DIVISION, COMMAND SERVICES DEPARTMENT, NAVAL OCEANOGRAPHIC OFFICE, STENNIS SPACE CENTER, MISSISSIPPI of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS. Responsibilities You will receive, store, and ship bin and bulk supplies, materials, and equipment by verifying quantities, nomenclature and unit of issue against receiving documents, identify discrepancies and report findings to supervisor or leader. You will prepare shipping and inventory documents with required data for manual or automated inventory systems. You will match, check, and compare data on re-warehouse and consolidation instruments with materials to be moved and consolidated against material already in stored locations also stacks and unstacks pallets. You will independently operate weight handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and electric lifts, to position and/or transport materials prior to and after packing. You will support a wide range of warehouse and inventory management responsibilities to include cleaning of warehouse; emptying metal and trash dumpsters. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to examine shipments to qualify them for shipment. Knowledge of Federal, State and International packing and shipping regulations. Ability to prepare inventory and production reports, screen and identify shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies and direct shipment to final destination. Ability to do inventory counts, re-counts and identify material locations. Ability verify material and compare appropriate documentation for processing.
