TEC Group Inc Quality Engineer - Intermediate in Sterling Heights, Michigan

Quality Engineer Pay: $42.62 hourly Location: Onsite - Sterling Heights, MI Employment Type: Contract to possible direct position Benefits/PTO Available

The Quality Engineer is responsible to ensure the company's products and processes meet established quality standards by identifying shortfalls, developing corrective measures, and implementing quality control systems. The successful Quality Engineer should have excellent troubleshooting skills to ensure that processes and products consistently meet or exceed established quality standards. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Perform root cause analysis of quality issues, often using advanced problem-solving tools (like Kepner Tregoe, Shainin Red X, Design of Experiments).
  • Recommend and implement simple cost-effective permanent corrective actions. Analyze quality data from internal and external indicators to ensure correlation.
  • Manage engineering changes, working with cross-functional team to ensure timely execution. Conduct product evaluation requests to ensure robustness of product or process change before full implementation.
  • Work with Engineering and Suppliers to resolve issues that are not plant controllable.
  • Recommend and validate rework procedures. Develop inspection procedures and best methods for performing inspection.
  • Develop projects to support World Class Manufacturing.
  • Specific duties: Warranty issue resolution for Body or Chassis components. Candidate will analyze data and identify responsible organization for containment and permanent corrective action implementation. Analysis to be conducted in a timely manner resulting in correct identification of follow-up organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or applicable Technical Engineering Degree from an accredited university
  • 2+ years practical experience in Automotive Engineering, Engineering Quality or Manufacturing Quality
  • Prior application and use of problem-solving tools and statistics
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office applications & G-Suite tools
  • Effective presentation/public speaking skills
  • Experienced with problem solving tools
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and teach others
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate details from executive level to plant staff level
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work off shift hours as necessary
  • Self-motivated and directed

Preferred Requirements:

  • Advanced degree
  • Experience with BIW commodity
  • Experience in the design, testing and assembly of assembly lines.
  • Experience working in a union environment.
  • Background in LEAN manufacturing principles or World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and problem-solving techniques
  • Applicable work experience
