JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB ID: 21307 Position Title: Research Specialist TTC Title and Code: Research Specialist (RE047) FTE: 100% Principal Work Location: UW-Stevens Point Main Campus Supervisor: Outreach Program Director Department: College of Natural Resources/WIST Position Summary: Lead the advancement of contract research projects focused on natural fiber applications particularly in the areas of commercial wood fiber diversification, specialty paper manufacture, process improvements and efficiency, sustainable packaging, and repulp ability and recyclability protocols. Anticipated Appointment Date: November 2024 Terms of Employment: This is an Academic Staff annual appointment, exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a grant-funded position funded through 2027 with the possibility, but no guarantee, of grant renewal. Project management skills and experience. Strong background with hands-on lab experience. Preferred Qualifications 5 + years of experience Ability to efficiently problem solve using innovative and critical thinking methods. Knowledge of paper-making, packaging and molded fiber processes. Knowledge of the forest products industry. Knowledge of current sustainability practices in the forest products, paper, packaging, and fiber industries.
