Need 17 full-time, temporary, seasonal Farmworkers/Laborers to work in Stewart, MN. From: 07/15/2024 - 10/02/2024 Work: 38 hrs./week, Mon.-Fri. 6.5 hrs./day, Sat. 5.5 hrs./day. 6:00am - 1:30pm. OVERTIME: As required in Minnesota, all work performed in excess of 48 hours in a work week will be paid at 1.5 times the regular rate of pay. ESST Law: Employees can earn (1) hour of sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours in a year. Must Apply By: 08/24/2024 JOB DUTIES: Plant, cultivate and harvest vegetables. Use hand tools including, but not limited to: shovels, hoes and knives. Weed and thin plants. Pick, cut, lift, or pull crops. Tie vegetables in bunches. In addition, workers must be able and willing to pick cucumbers and harvest cabbage with a knife. Grade, size, sort and package product. Examine products to prevent damaging produce and plants. Deliver pets of finished product to storage and load/unload product safely. Use hand tools including but not limited to hoes, shovels, and knives. Lift, carry, and load/unload products or supplies Feed and water livestock. Herd livestock to pasture for grazing. Herd animals into corral and/or stall. Maintain/repair fences used to contain herd animals. Must be able to find and maintain bearings to grazing areas. Examine animals for diseases and injuries. Assist with livestock vaccination. Apply routine medications. Perform general herd care. Perform hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, and other manual tasks. Bending, stooping and kneeling required. Assist with farm building/field maintenance and repairs. Build/repair fences. Use power equipment including but not limited to: tractors, planters, mowers, plows, utility vehicles, cultivators, fork lifts, pallet jacks, skid loaders. Must operate agricultural equipment safely, with or without direction. Grade and pack vegetable crops by hand or with mechanized packing equipment, including but not limited to bagging machines, bin feeding machines, box machines, labeling machines, regular and high stacking forklifts. Sort graded vegetable crops in appropriate containers according to packing instructions. Deliver pallets of finished product to cold storage. Load/unload product. Prepare orders for shipping. Keep material and product records accurately. Cleaning and sanitation of tools, equipment and working area required. Work is done in the field for long periods of time. Workers may assist in handling product weighing up to 50 pounds and lifting to a height of 5 feet. Workers must work on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time. Work requires repetitive movements and extensive walking. Work required in fields when plants are wet with dew and rain, and may be required during light rain, moderate winds, direct sun, muddy conditions, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Temperatures in fields during working hours can range from 35 to over 95 degrees F. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honey bees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or related chemicals may affect a worker's ability to perform the job. Supervisor(s) will provide instructions and directions to workers. Workers must be able to comprehend and follow instructions and communicate effectively to supervisors. Crops/Commodities: Livestock and Crops JOB REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of 3 months of experience working in agricultural employment handling both manual and mechanized tasks; must be able to furnish verbal or written statement establishing relevant prior work experience; must be able to perform work requiring exposure to extreme temperatures, pushing, pulling, sitting, walking, stooping, bending over, and repetitive movements; must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs.; no minimum education required. Employer paid drug testing required. EMPLOYER ASSURANCES: Work guaranteed for 3/4 of contract period, starting with date of arrival at work site. Employer provid s free housing for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Employer pays inbound transportation and subsistence to work site upon 50% completion of work contract for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $15.88 per day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts.
