Responsibilities

Our Chaplain positions are critical to the success of St. Josephs Medical Center and require the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health. It is expected that our employees demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values.

Positon Summary: The Chaplain is a full member of the health care team sharing in the healing mission of St. Joseph’s Medical Center. The incumbent assesses the spiritual needs provides counsel educates and ministers to patients their families physicians co-workers and members of the community as required. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Experience, preferably in a hospital setting, working as part of a team.

Education:

  • Master's Degree in Divinity, Theology, or Pastoral Studies with at least four (4) units of clinical pastoral education (or its equivalent).

  • Must obtain certification by NACC or APC or certification within 18 months to move to a Chaplain II.

Licensure:

  • Certification eligible within 3 years of hire.

  • BCC-APC Board Certified Chaplain APC (THE ASSOC PROF CHAP)

  • BCC-BCC Board Certified Chaplain BCC (BRD CHAPLAINCY CERT)

  • CHAPLAIN Catholic Chaplain (NATL ASSOC CATH CHAP)

Skill Skills:

  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of spiritual care practices as well as generaloffice practices, including records management.

  • Familiarity with current medical ethical issues and the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Facilities.

  • Some understanding of other denominations, faiths and sensitivity to diverse cultures required.

  • Ability to speak Spanish or Southeast Asian language helpful.

Pay Range

$34.50 - $47.12 /hour
