Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full-time experience working in alumni relations, athletics, volunteer management or constituent relations/customer service, fundraising or a related field in business, higher education, and/or non-profit or health care system.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working directly with alumni, students, and faculty. Experience with event coordination. Proficiency using Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising, student record, or client/customer management software.Brief Description of Duties:
The Alumni Relations Coordinator, reporting to the Director of Lifelong and Athletics Engagement, will help strengthen relationships between alumni, the University, and the Stony Brook Alumni Association through programming and engagement. This role is responsible for providing project and program support, coordinating events, facilitating communications, and working with internal and external stakeholders to execute project plans that align with the strategic goals of the Alumni Relations and Athletics team. The role will also assist in developing and administering alumni engagement and volunteer programs, such as alumni boards and committees. This includes coordinating program logistics and supporting related activities, processes, and communications. Occasional on-site support, including some nights/weekends and travel, may be required.

  • Responsible for working with athletics to increase alumni participation by providing project management and execution on all assigned programs, initiatives, and tactical plans. Coordinate with the Director and other team members across the division on the development, implementation, and execution of new and existing alumni programs designed to foster a lifelong connection and, in the identification, cultivation, and engagement of potential volunteers, participants, and supporters.
  • Responsible for planning, implementing, and promoting assigned alumni and athletic alumni events according to established goals and objectives. Communicates with participants, departments, vendors, presenters, and others to execute in-person and virtual programs. Ensures events are organized effectively, on time, within budget, and complete with university policies and procedures. Monitors and assesses outcomes, including the reach and effectiveness of each event.
  • Serves as a unit liaison for internal and external stakeholders, answers questions, and provides information about alumni relations and athletics programs, events, and projects. Provides support for unit board meetings and/or assigned committees. Communicates with board members and volunteers and executes related follow-up and initiatives.
  • Assists in meeting established goals and objectives for Alumni Relations, Athletics and Advancement, including evaluating existing programs, keeping up on industry trends, and recommending strategies to strengthen alumni participation and support.
  • Monitors and updates alumni data and supports tracking of alumni engagement metrics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non-Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
