Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
High School diploma/G.E.D. (foreign equivalent or higher degree). Basic technical knowledge as evidenced by upper-division coursework in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Background in Neuroscience. Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biochemistry or a closely related field in hand by Dec. 31, 2024. Experience in tissue culture of stem cells. Experience in RNA and protein purification and their analyses. Experience in immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy.Brief Description of Duties:
The Research Technician will learn from and assist members of the Principal Investigator's lab with research tasks aimed at understanding the cellular and molecular mechanism underlying the neurodevelopmental disorder Rett syndrome. The incumbent will learn how to generate human models for brain development using induced pluripotent stem cells obtained from Rett syndrome patients. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills and exercise strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Experience following specific instructions meticulously. Strong written verbal and interpersonal skills. Experience working independently and as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem-solving. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the incumbent will assist other lab members with performing experiments and gathering data in projects involving a wide range of approaches.
- Under the PI's supervision, the incumbent will assist with ordering supplies to keep the lab inventory well stocked.
- Participate in weekly lab meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
