    Job Purpose

    The Social Media and Marketing Intern will be responsible for coordinating and executing SBU Eats social media strategy, working across key social media platforms including Instagram and Facebook. The intern will maintain SBU Eats presence on social media platforms and help to publish content relevant to Stony Brook University.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns

• Create weekly and monthly editorial calendars to promote company brands on various social media platforms

• Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability

• Support marketing team at live and online event

• Perform social media marketing research

• Create influencer campaign strategy

• Respond to comments and DMs on social media platforms

• Brainstorm and research ideas for original content

• Write social media captions that speak to the company's target audience

• Help create and edit short-form videos

• Develop new strategies for increasing engagement

• Assist with photo/video content shoots

• Ensure brand message is consistent

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Detail oriented and able to work independently

• Strong understanding of social media platforms

• An interest in marketing and communications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Basic Adobe design skills

Reports To

The SBU Eats Social Media and Marketing Intern will report directly to the Sr. Marketing Manager.

Job Summary

As an intern, you will be working closely with Compass Group leaders to develop skills and competencies to be successful in your prospective industry. You will gain valuable experience in any of the following areas: operations, marketing, administration, guest services, problem solving, planning and implementation of innovative projects, and client relationship skills. This internship involves hands-on experiences which will provide opportunities for your personal success and development. This position is paid, but not eligible for benefits such as medical, relocation, or housing.

  • Must be enrolled in a college/university or technical program to receive college credit

  • Possess an interest in learning, observing, and practicing a variety of experiences in our industry
