University of Connecticut (UConn) Applications Administrator 1 or 2 - Business Systems Analyst in Storrs, Connecticut

JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut is seeking an enthusiastic individual to fill a full-time position as a Business Systems Analyst in the Information Technology Services organization. This position will provide leadership in the support and troubleshooting of various systems managed by the Enterprise Financials Team. Primary duties will include the administration and support of the Kuali Financial System and secondary roles with Jaggaer/SciQuest E-Procurement and Concur Travel and Expense.

As part of the Enterprise Financials Team, the Business Systems Analyst will interact with various members of the University community, including both operational and academic areas, to understand, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system problems. Working with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s), the selected candidate will propose solutions, changes, and enhancements to the functionality, configuration, and security of our enterprise applications which meet the requirements of the University, match industry best practices, and observe sound financial principles.

The Business Systems Analyst will work independently with minimal supervision and at the same time coordinate their activities with other team members. The selected candidate will be expected to apply a high degree of technical expertise and advanced knowledge of financial system management and accounting principles to provide advanced user support, coordinate activities between various constituents, and understand the requirements and needs of the University community. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides troubleshooting, support, and system administration for the University’s financial enterprise applications.

  • Develops and maintains system documentation including but not limited to Functional Specifications, Business Processes, and Solution Analyses.

  • Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts, External Vendors, and University Leadership to analyze issues and propose solutions.

  • Executes changes to application configurations, workflows, audit rules, security, etc.

  • Works with ITS Technical teams to design, enhance, and implement integrations between University applications, adhering to UConn’s standard practices and the defined software development life cycle (SDLC).

  • Participates in projects and provides status updates to management.

  • Tests system enhancements and bug fixes; providing feedback to development team.

  • Maintains technical expertise through review of professional journals, attendance at conferences and seminars, and other professional activities.

  • Participates in the staff rotation for daily operational tasks performed by the Enterprise Financials Team including batch processing.

  • Performs other duties as required

Additional Job Duties for the Application Administrator 2

  • Provides advanced troubleshooting, support, and system administration for the University’s financial enterprise applications.

  • Researches and recommends new technology solutions to adapt, enhance, or expand university financial applications and drive continuous improvement.

  • Provides leadership in the execution of projects in conjunction with the ITS Project Management Office.

  • Collaborates in the preparation of project plans for future development, upgrades, and integrations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Applications Administrator 1

  • Associate degree and 4 years of related experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience OR 6 years of related experience.

  • Experience identifying and troubleshooting technical issues.

  • Knowledge of common system-to-system integration practices.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups in a project team setting.

Additional Minimum Qualifications for Application Administrator 2

  • Associate degree and 6 years of related experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience OR 8 years of related experience.

  • Evidence of extensive experience supporting and troubleshooting ERP systems (Financial, HR/Payroll, T&E, or Student) in a large data processing environment.

  • Experience designing and supporting integrations between one or more systems.

  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Application Administrator 1

  • Two (2) years or more of business analysis/system support experience.

  • Experience supporting Financial, HR/Payroll, Travel and Expense, or Student Applications.

  • Experience writing basic SQL.

  • Experience leading process improvement efforts.

Additional Preferred Qualifications for Application Administrator 2

  • Five (5) years or more of business analysis/system support experience.

  • System Administration Experience with Kuali Financials, SAP, Banner, Workday, or equivalent.

  • Project leadership experience in the development and implementation of Financial, Payroll, or Travel Applications.

  • Knowledge of overnight batch processing/scheduling techniques using tools such as Control-M or equivalent.

  • Extensive knowledge in at least 2 of the following: Travel and Entertainment, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Accounting, Capital Assets, Contracts and Grants, HR/Payroll.

  • Experience working in Government or Higher Education.
