Nesco Resource Legal Secretary in Stratford, Connecticut

ob Summary: Part time 20-25 hours a week As a legal secretary, you will provide administrative support to lawyers and legal professionals in a law firm. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing and formatting legal documents, typing up notes, maintaining filing systems, scheduling appointments, and meetings, and assisting with general office tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Document Preparation: Draft, format, and proofread legal documents such as contracts, briefs, pleadings, motions, and correspondence.
  • File Management: Maintain organized and up-to-date physical and electronic filing systems for legal documents, correspondence, and case materials.
  • Communication: Manage incoming and outgoing communications, including phone calls, emails, and mail. Relay messages accurately and efficiently.
  • Calendar Management: Schedule appointments, court dates, meetings, and conferences for attorneys. Coordinate travel arrangements and accommodations when necessary.
  • Client Interaction: Interact with clients, both in person and over the phone, to schedule appointments, gather information, and provide updates on case status.
  • Research: Conduct legal research using online databases and resources to gather information relevant to cases, statutes, regulations, and legal precedents.
  • Administrative Support: Assist attorneys with administrative tasks, including photocopying, scanning, faxing, and filing. Maintain office supplies and equipment.
  • Confidentiality: Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional certification or coursework in legal studies or office administration is preferred.

Experience:Prior experience as a legal secretary or in a similar administrative role is advantageous.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent typing and transcription skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation preferred.

Interpersonal Skills: Professional demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
