BAY MARINE Sr. Marine Mechanic in STURGEON BAY, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: TopSide Marinas is a family-owned real estate company that owns 10 marinas in the U.S. and growing. We are currently seeking a Sr. Marine Mechanic. The Mechanic/Marine Technician\'s responsibility is to perform the duties below on a regular basis and meet customer satisfaction standards as well as company sales and safety requirements. Duties & Responsibilities: Troubleshoot and repair marine gas and diesel engines from maintenance to complete overhaul Repair/rebuild gearsets, transmissions and stern drives Diagnose and repair carbureted and fuel injected intake systems Repair propulsion systems such as transmissions, sail drives, stern drives, etc. Diagnose and repair various gensets, 12V and battery bank systems Operate diagnostic software Perform winterization and spring commissioning of engines and ship systems Installations such as new engines, air conditioning systems, pumps, anchor windlass, and others as assigned Perform mechanical repairs including water systems, waste systems, steering systems, engine controls, pumps, etc. Help train and assist others as needed Demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills and abilities Perform other duties as assigned or apparent Start motors and monitor performance for signs of malfunctioning, such as smoke, excessive vibration, or misfiring. Document inspection and test results and work performed or to be performed. Mount motors to boats, and operate boats at various speeds on waterways to conduct operational tests. Repair engine mechanical equipment, such as power tilts, bilge pumps, or power take-offs. Perform routine engine maintenance on motorboats, such as changing oil and filters. Replace parts, such as gears, magneto points, piston rings, or spark plugs, and reassemble engines. Idle motors and observe thermometers to determine the effectiveness of cooling systems. Inspect and repair or adjust propellers or propeller shafts. Adjust carburetor mixtures, electrical point settings, or timing while motors are running in water-filled test tanks. Set starter locks and align and repair steering or throttle controls, using gauges, screwdrivers, or wrenches. Disassemble and inspect motors to locate defective parts, using mechanic\'s hand tools and gauges. Adjust generators and replace faulty wiring, using hand tools and soldering irons. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications and Requirements: Act with the highest level of integrity and maintain a positive attitude High school diploma required 6+ years of experience in the performance of mechanical repair and installation OEM certification(s) Ability to speak and read English and understand electrical wiring diagrams Ability to use test instruments Ability to use specialty tools as designated by OEM\'s Must provide tools and test equipment Specialty tools and diagnostics provided Strong electrical troubleshooting capabilities Experience in electrical and electronic installations Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job Strong work ethic and personal commitment Ability to work in a team environment to achieve team, department, and company goals Ability to be a self-starter and work independently Experience with a variety of internal combustion engines (diesel, inboard, outboard, etc.) Diesel-only experience is welcome!
