BASIC PURPOSE

The Fitness/Gym Attendant is responsible for the safe use of the facilities by maintaining equipment in good working order, maintaining cleanliness and preparing activity areas for events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide great customer service to the community; see that all customers, clients, and members are given prompt and courteous service.

  • Supply information and answer questions about available programs.

  • Maintain cleanliness of facility by cleaning equipment, fitness areas, vacuuming and sweeping.

  • Ensure accurate equipment check out and check in system.

  • Maintain confidentiality.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the rules and fundamentals of indoor sports such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, floor hockey, indoor soccer and other programs offered in the gymnasium.

  • Report all equipment, fitness, and gym area problems to the Sports & Fitness Coordinator or Center Director.

  • Notify members and staff when machines are out of working order or in need of repair.

  • Enforce all rules that pertain to the fitness and exercise areas on a constant basis.

  • Adhere to Kroc Center operations as well as all policy & procedures as adopted by Administration.

  • Observe all safety rules and regulations.

  • Supervise all climbers for safe practices at Climbing Wall area.

  • Support participant safety orientation.

  • Work as a Climbing Wall attendant.

  • Act as scorekeeper and league sports monitor/coach/referee.

  • Give facility tours in support of the Welcome Desk and potential members.

  • Aid in belaying testing for interested parties during Climbing Wall hours.

  • Attend staff meetings as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.

  • Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred.

  • One or more years of experience in a public exercise facility preferred.

  • Exercise equipment knowledge preferred.

  • Must be capable of handling job duties mentally and physically.

  • Demonstrate the ability to relate positively and energetically with staff, clients, members, and customers.

  • Must have the ability to maintain a non-judgmental attitude in working with customers, clients, members, and staff.

  • Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving.

  • Able to work independently, with minimal supervision.

  • Command of the English language and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Thrive in a team-oriented environment. Be a team player.

  • Effectively communicate with clientele and staff.

  • Ability to work with children, parents, peers, and a variety of age groups in a capacity of leadership, counseling, and education.

  • Adapt to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure.

  • Ability to empathize and communicate with compassion to all people.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis

  • Able to grasp, push, and/or pull objects

  • Ability to reach overhead

  • Ability to operate telephone

  • Able to lift and carry 40 lbs.

  • Capable of operating a computer

  • Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
