Vadis Transition Specialist - Pierce County in Sumner, Washington

Each day varies as you put your advocacy and instruction skills to use as a Transition Specialist. Throughout your week, you will positively impact the lives of students with your:

  • Excellent customer service and communications with students, families, employers, educators, funders, and the community
  • Development of curriculum and trainings that are engaging.
  • Ability to confidently instruct high school students in the classroom.   
  • Partnering with funders and within the community to identify and coordinate Work Based Learning opportunities including tours, informational interviews, job shadows and internships.  
  • Facilitation of employment planning and assisting clients in developing vocational goals and methods to achieve those goals.

Pay and Benefits

  • This is a full-time position with a starting wage of $24 per hour. This is not a remote position.
  • Full salary range for this position is $24 - $27.88 per hour.
  • Medical/Vision, dental, and life insurance coverage at no premium cost to employees. Dependent coverage available at employee cost.
  • 403(b) retirement plan, with up to a 6% company match dependent on contributions. (Match available after one year of employment).
  • Opportunities for advancement.
  • Business mileage reimbursement is currently .56/mile.
  • Vacation accrual begins at 4.66 hours per month.
  • Sick Leave accrues at 1 hour for every 40 hours worked.

Hours of work typically run Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 4:30pm. However, it is important that our employees understand the importance of supporting our students during the hours they are in school and at work. This requires flexibility for evening and/or weekend assignments as needed, based on caseload.

Requirements
  • Ability and desire to work respectfully with people with disabilities.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Personal use of a vehicle, with proper insurance coverage due to variances in client work hours and worksites.
  • Driver's license with favorable driving record.
  • Ability to pass initial and ongoing criminal background checks.
